Debt and Preferred Equity (DPE) Program

Since 2013, UDR has utilized its market knowledge and operating expertise to invest in communities and development projects with third-party partners in our Debt and Preferred Equity (DPE) program. The focus of DPE is to create repeatable business through win/win outcomes with our partners. In the lifetime of the program, UDR has invested $1.0B in 30+ transactions with 25+ partners. Our DPE investments have typically been either preferred equity or mezzanine debt, however, we are open to a wide variety of structures to meet the needs of all parties. The DPE program looks to invest in recapitalizations of existing apartment communities and development in UDR’s operating markets.
